Thanks, Anne... Like I later wrote elsewhere, nothing BAD happened yesterday, but... Remember how our team was divided into three subteams, and the focus of mine was system's support while others would do project development? I had expressed some concerns to my boss because I *am* good at development and the way things were going, I was seeing myself being pigeonholed into doing the team's scut work while others would do the shiny stuff that gets people noticed by the dept's higherups. (I thinkk I used more diplomatic language.) He said to give the team time so that eventually some of the newbies would be able to handle the abovementionned scut work and I could manage projects. Now they're talking about further restructuring that would have my team handle not projects but lesser smaller system-support stuff. In other words, they're planning to make it even less likely that I will ever manage a project. My expressing concerns won't do a damned bit of good. There is a possibility of an opening elsewhere at work. If that comes thru, I won't burn bridges, but I will cross them with as little warning as I can get away with.
