"Been showing off a bit, haven't you, son?"
"Um... I didn't mean to show off, Pop. It's just that, guys like that Brad, I just want to tear him apart."
"Yeah, I know, I know."
"And I know I shouldn't..."
"Yeah, I know, you can do all these amazing things and sometimes you feel like you will just go bust unless you can tell people about them."
"Yeah. I mean every time I kick the football I can make a touchdown. Every time! I mean, is it showing off if somebody's doing the things he's capable of doing? Is a bird showing off when it flies?"
"No, no. Now, you listen to me. When you first came to us, we thought people would come and take you away because, when they found out, you know, the things you could do... and that worried us a lot. But then a man gets older, and he starts thinking differently and things get very clear. And one thing I do know, son, and that is you are here for a reason. I don't know whose reason, or whatever the reason is... Maybe it's because... uh... I don't know. But I do know one thing. It's not to score touchdowns. Huh?"

"Your father was captain of a starship - for 12 minutes. He saved 800 lives. Including yours."
- Captain Pike to young misfit James Tiberius Kirk.

This looks promising.
Aside from Uhura's miniskirt.

I just finished making a bunch of much needed changes to my wife's site, what with her novel Lord of Legends about to be released on April 1. I managed to implement the changes without any major goofup, and fixed the minor oopsies within a few minutes. It always amazes when I do this successfully even though I never once did it disastrously.

This may be one of the last times I'll be doing this though.

You see, Sue's site basically was built using hand-carved html, as my friend Abi would call what her hubby does for their own site. Someone set up Sue's about 10 years ago, and I've been sort-of figuring out how to make changes for the last 4 years. That can be a lengthy process. That's one issue with the site.

I think there are softwares out there that allow a person to build and easily maintain a site without ever having to touch html, but I don't know the good ones, nor what their strengths and weaknesses are.

The other issue is that Sue doesn't like the site's look anymore. She also wants to have a blog be part of her site, instead of its being elsewhere, like on LiveJournal. Basically we'd need someone who is good with design and who could rebuild the whole thing from scratch. Maintenance - for example setting up a new section for her latest book - could hopefuly be done by yours truly, but web design is not my forte, and is beyond my meager skills.

I'm sure there are people who could do the design and rebuilding, but we probably couldn't afford them. Still, there's no harm in asking my visitors.
