sergebroom: (Rocketeer)
One year ago today was the first day of Montreal's worldcon. I mention it because it was the chance of my meeting some friends again in person instead of thru the blogosphere. Some of them I met for the first time, and I can say that rumours about TexAnne bearing a striking resemblance to Madame Defarge ("Rumours that you started, Serge.") are nothing but a tissue of lies. They both are quite handy with knitting needles though. Anyway. Besides that, for the first time since 1988, I met Norbert Spehner, founder of Quebec's first SF magazine and now a great amateur of westerns who was quite interested when I mentionned Anthony Mann's 1951's "The Tall Target". Besides that... At the worldcon, I found myself walking behind the winner of a Nobel Prize for Economics who also is a Doctor Who fan. And, for the first time since we met in 1979, I got to wish a Happy Birthday in person to my friend Elisabeth Vonarburg.

Joyeux Anniversaire, Elisabeth!
