I tried to watch the Skiffy Channel's "Being Human" last night, but decided my time would be better spent reading Connie Willis's "All Clear".

Love on a wire then off

Today I took Freya, aka the Viking Love Goddess, to the vet for some surgery. Last year, whe she jumped off our bed, she took a bad fall and completely ripped out the cruciate ligaments of one hind leg. She went thru surgery that her doctor had not had to do in over 20 years. She recovered and now walks normally although she's shown no inclination to sleep on our bed since then. Last week though, my wife noticed a hard lump near that leg's knee so I had the doctor take a look and told me what it was: unbeknownst to me, the repair work done last year had involved a nylon wire, to reinforce her leg while it was healing, and one of the clamps holding the wire had apparently come off. So she went in today, and they removed the wire and both clamps. She won't be putting any weight on that leg for a few days, but she'll be fine.
