As frequent visitors of this Tube may have noticed, I go to the gym fairly frequently - about 4 times a week, and usually at ungodly hours. I've been to that same place for over 10 years now, and many faces have become familiar over time. One recent addition has led me to a disquieting realization - she looks like Agatha Heterodyne. Thankfully, the similarity is only physical otherwise I'd worry about clanks and other giant contraptions, plus operetta-garbed talking cats, and fang-faced guys with a chapeau obsession wrecking up the place.
(Brrrrrrrrrrr...)
Say, why is there an airship hovering by?

Today, I told my team lead that contractors and their mistakes were making it impossible for me to do my job. The exchange that followed boiled down to his suggestion that I should show leadership. He also said the following:

If i have to make my life better, i have to take the all the neccessary steps in my life and i should not expect others to make my life better. So instead of looking outward, look inward and see what is the root cause of the problem.

So basically I'm supposed to do his job, and it's all my fault if the people under him aren't doing their job properly.

I think I'll do just that. The thing though is what kind of leadership I should show. Should my model be James Tiberius Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard, or Kathryn Janeway?

I wanted to end the week on a good note so tonight was treats time... I bought Richard Parks's story collection "On the Banks of the River of Heaven", and the Nook edition of anthology "Songs of Love and Death"... I made a donation to web-based fantasy magazine Beaneath Ceaseless Skies... I got a few comic-books too: the latest "Captain America", Part Two of Mike Mignola's 2-issue story "HellBoy: The Sleeping and the Dead", the first of Mignola's 5-issue story "Witchfinder: Lost and Gone Forever" and, last but not least, one-shot story "Doctor Strange: The Old House".

Happy!
