The February issue of re-resurrected magazine "Realms of Fantasy" showed up in my mailbox yesterday.

Cover art by Lori Koefoed

It offers the following stories...

"The Swan Troika"
by Richard Parks
Just because you know a thing is deadly doesn’t make it less so.

"Thirteen Incantations"
by Desirina Boskovich
They say that smell is the most evocative of the senses. But what does love smell like?

"Magpie"
by Mark Rigney
Sometimes you have to pay a price for salvation and often at a cost you’d not pay otherwise. But you get used to it.

"No Tale for Troubadours"
by Pauline J. Alama
When your reputation precedes you, it can be hard to outrun it.

"The Time of His Life"
by Scott William Carter
It’s so difficult to find time for yourself amid the demands of family and work. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just carve some out? Maybe, maybe not.

Today definitely was a good day. Not only did I finally get the signoff on my most recent project, but I made a co-worker laugh when I said that the MythBusters proved that one can polish a turd. Besides that... I got a new lamp for my office so that I wouldn't work in the dark. Debra Doyle over at "Making Light" wrote a rather nice comment to me. Finally I sent a friend my extra copy of Sharon Lee's wonderful fantasy novel "Carousel Tides".

"Agora"

Tonight I watched 2009's "Agora", in which Rachel Weisz plays Hypatia, a scholar and teacher at the Library of Alexandria circa 400AD. The film shines when it shows Hypatia's joy at figuring out the world around her. Alas, much of the story is about those of the world's inhabitants who care little about Knowledge.
