Feb. 23rd, 2011
I just finished reading the February issue of fantasy magazine "Realms of Fantasy".

After Theodora Goss's "Folkroot" column about the Femme Fatale of myth and how its depiction became quite popular around the Fin de Siècle, a treat of many short stories was offered to the readers. Among my favorites was Richard Parks's "The Swan Troika" about a young man who welcomes a woman even though he knows she's a rusalka, the spirit of a drowned girl. There was also "Thirteen Incantations", by Desirina Boskovich, in which a lonely lesbian teenager falls in love with another girl, whose mother makes perfume that allows you to relive memories, and Mark Rigney's "Magpie", about a suddenly orphaned girl who is given wings and the shared solitude of a strange rider.
Recommended.
