Last night, I watched 2006's "Sharpe's Challenge".

Last time I had seen Sharpe was about a decade before, with a story that ended at Waterloo and his finally running into Napoleon himself. This one is set after the War, and Colonel Sharpe has called it quits and is now a farmer. That is, until Wellington asks him to go to India to rescue one of his agents, who turns out to be Sharpe's old buddy Harper.

This 2h20m film has everything one expects. And more. Incompetent high-ranking officers. Nasty lower-ranking officers. A beautiful damsel in distress at the mercy of a turncoat British officer working for a rebellious Indian kingdom really led by a beautiful courtisane. Sword fights. Cannonballs. Lots of people getting killed by incompetent decisions. Did I miss anything?

Oh, right.

Web-based fantasy magazine "Beneath Ceaseless Skies" posted its 63rd (FREE) issue yesterday. Stories are "The Ghost of Shinoda Forest" by Richard Parks, and "Dirt Witch" by Eljay Daly.

It looks like the Universe will reach its Heat Death before I run out of good stories to read.

I just realized that last November was the 30th anniversary of "Days of Future Past", in which all of Tomorrow's X-men died to save the Past.
