Yesterday, I went to a book signing by local writers Joan Saberhagen, Daniel Abraham, Walter Jon William, and others. I had a nice chat, during which the younger generation confirmed it's never heard of TV series "The Invaders". Fan Patricia Rogers, who works for Abraham, introduced me to his daughter. Upon seeing her, Lovecraft would probably have exclaimed:

"The cute. The cute!"

Last night, we watched 1987's "Adventures in Babysityting". Yes, some of the humor makes one wince - frex a teenage boy wishing a cute girl would rape him. And there's the fashion, especially the shoulder pads.

On the other hand, it stars Elizabeth Shue. Also, one reason why my wife likes it a lot is that it features a 10-year-old girl who's a fan of the "Thor" comic-book.

By the way, do you recognize the man that the kid thinks IS Thor?

"All I want is to meet a boy whose feet are bigger than mine."

So says Paula Prentiss just before she meets Jim Hutton in "Where The Boys Are", currently shown on TCM.
