This morning, for various reasons - most of them not related to work - I had a song going on and on thru my mind, one by late-1970s French singer Michel Fugain, specifically the line that translates as "Cemetaries are filled with irreplaceable people".

"Neighbors bring food with death, and flowers with sickness, and little things in between. Boo was our neighbor. He gave us two soap dolls, a broken watch and chain, a knife, and our lives."
- Scout in "To Kill A Mockingbird"

Buying books online isn't as much fun as buying them from a brick-and-mortar store, but, after placing a big order, there's great pleasure in coming home every day and finding one more book... or two... or three... in the mailbox. And there's more of them still to come.

I had been planning to build a stand for our new HD TV. I then decided the results would look like crap - wisely before I started using any of the purchased materials. I returned them to the big-box store, got my money back then my wife went online and bought a professionally made stand that won't cost excessively more than my own dismal efforts. As a law-enforcement gent once said, a man's got to know his limitations.
