I'm having a great time at the worldcon. Getting there took a long time, which is what happens when the highway between Las Vegas and Reno turns into an ordinary road for 400 miles. But we made it. I met wonderful people yesterday. The Tor party was a very noisy affair, but I stayed thru most of it, after which some of us crossed the hall to someone's bedroom, where talk was about a famous painter who made dogs look like monkeys, and where the Case of the Disappearing Hugo was discussed. Anything else? On the trip's first day, as we drove thru Arizona's Flagstaff, we caught one radio station's ukulele rendition of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody".

My plans for today... Take a closer look at the dealer's room and see if some books will say "Buy me!" as I walk by. Go to Lisa Goldstein's reading, then to Mary Robinette Kowal's puppet show. Meet more wonderful people. Go to the masquerade.

I wasn't able to make it to Mary Robinette Kowal's "WhatNot" puppet show, but I had a very nice chat with Lisa Goldstein after she read an excerpt from her new novel "The Uncertain Places".
