I just finished Mary Robinette Kowal's "The White Phoenix Feather: A Tale of Cuisine and Ninjas", an original short-story she made available to people who contributed to her Kickstarter-funded puppet show at the worldcon. My favorite line: "You just defeated a samurai with a breadstick, I'm not worried about a couple of ninjas."
Today we went to the Guild Cinema, which showed 1961's "Mysterious Island". It's a minor steampunk movie we had not seen in a long time and which was better than we remembered - especially Herbert Lom as Nemo.

Tonight we popped in our DVD of 1969's "Captain Nemo and the Underwater City". Not really much happens in it, come to to think, but it's a pleasant story of a man who created his own Shangri La.
