literal ladies
Jan. 31st, 2012 07:06 pmI arrived yesterday morning after sleeping thru most of the flight. Even then, I felt tired for most of the day. In fact, while I was having some of my tech training that afternoon, I thought I was going to conk out, but I made it thru. Today's training lasted 30 minutes instead of 2 hours, due to the New System's server experiencing technical difficuties. No comment. Hopefully the week's remaining training will go more smoothly. By the way, I was assigned a neat project for the New System. It doesn't involve any new technology, but my transfering some of the Old System's old-technology-based processes as is to the New System's platform because the new technology can't convert them. Why is that neat? Well, I like hybrid things, especially if they look like a Jules Verne engineer ran into modern stuff. Also, I find myself gloating that the old crap will be saving the day for the new 'cutting edge' crap.
I'm all alone in my friend Yoko's place right now. Yesterday evening, we went to a Thai place in Berkeley that caters to students - meaning the food was cheap AND yummy. My kind of meal. Tonight, my friend is going on a girls's night out, and while I have called an honorary woman, that compliment doesn't extend to imbibing with literal ladies. Well, see if I care! I've got a book to read. So there!
