the weekend
Mar. 10th, 2012 11:03 pmFriday night was the local SF club's meeting, where writer Melinda Snodgrass talked about current and future projects, about her involvement in Disney's first attempt at a "Barsoom" film in the late 1980s, and about her love of horses. That's when we learned that her boy Vento is of the same breed as Shadowfax in Peter Jackson's "LoTR". I had a wonderful time, as usual, and it didn't hurt my feelings when local fan Pat Rogers introduced me to Joan Saberhagen (Fred's widow) as a good guy.
I spent Saturday morning on a project related to work's doomed New System. Of my own loony freewill, sort of, because if I had waited until Monday, the usual emergencies would have prevented me from taking care of this. Sue and I then went to see "John Carter (of Mars)", during the first minutes of which I pointedly told some chatty nearby viewers that, if they weren't really interested in the movie, they could just leave. Believe or not, that shut them up more effectively than my earlier shushing. Back home, I helped Sue prepare some chile for Sunday's visit by friends of hers. I then did the dishes, folded the laundry.
Then spent the last three hours fixing a problem with our feed to another group.
I guess I'll now turn in.
