"Blink"

Last night we watched 1994's "Blink", starring Madeleine Stowe as a woman who's gone thru an operation that gives her eyesight back. Sometimes though her brain doesn't process what she sees until hours later and so she realizes after the fact that she's seen the man who committed a murder in her appartment building. Unfortunately the cop played by Aidan Quinn thinks she's nuts.

I don't think the movie did well at the box office or critically, but Sue and I like it - and Stowe - and it had been a long time since we'd seen it so we popped in our DVD.

to off the bush

I'm taking the day off so I'll go off a bush, or at least trim it close to the ground and see if it'll grow back. I'll try not to cut off my fingertips as I truncate the many trunks.

Today may have a day-off for me, but it didn't mean I spent it sipping piña colada by the pool while reading great stories off my old Nook. For one thing, I don't have a pool. I have a yard though and lots of yardwork was required and the skin of my arms and hands has the nicks to show for it. But I did everything I had aimed to do, and took the results to the dump this afternmoon. I then went to the car wash because the minivan's bottom was filled with yardwork bits and in dire need of vacuuming. Besides, it has to look presentable when I go all the way to Portalès on Friday for the Jack Williamson Lectureships. Last task of the day was the weekly trip to the grocery store where I decided to make up for the day's hardship with the acquisition of a 1.5-quart container of cheap strawberry ice cream.

I promise not to eat the whole thing in one session.
