I drove back from yesterday's Williamson Lectureships this afternoon. It was the first time I attended the event, which is held in New Mexico's Portalès. Guests were writers Connie Willis, Carrie Vaughn, Daniel Abraham, Darynda Jones, Melinda Snodgrass, Ian Tregillis, Walter Jon Williams, Ty Franck and Steven Gould. Like I said, it was my first and it won't be my last. I had a grand time, not the least being when Steve Haffner, he of Haffner Press, came to me and asked if I was the Serge who a few years ago had bought his reissue of novel "Stark and the Star Kings", by Leigh Brackett and Edmond Hamilton. (He's been working very hard to make sure the Old-timers are remembered.) I've posted photos, starting here ( http://pics.livejournal.com/serge_lj/pic/0013zxw1/g84 ). My favorite was taken while Connie Willis was discussing British TV series "Primevals" with Ty Franck while Daniel Abraham, stuck in the middle, looked on worriedly. I made up that bit about Daniel. That being said, I wish to thank Patrice Caldwell and others who made the event happen, and Pat Rogers for telling me I *really* should attend.
