I had a good time (as usual) at the local SF club's monthly meeting last night. They held their once-a-year auction, and some of the things I donated fetched quite a few dollars for the club's treasury. I bid on a few things that went for more than I could pay so I passed, although I was tempted to splurge on that cane with the skull-shaped pommel. I wound up getting a "Sid and Marty Croft" badge.

M.K. Hobson obviously has no shame, hawking her Kickstarter literary project by showing off newborn puppies.

"Our situation has not improved."

Doctor Jones to Doctor Jones.
Goodness, it's been a long time since I've watched "The last Crusade".

"There is great unrest. Countries set at each other's throats, baying for blood. It's a powder-keg. The trouble of which I speak could set a match to the whole thing: War."
"With whom, exactly?"
"Everyone. A world war."

This morning it occurred to me that each and every Kickstarter project I've contributed to had been created by a writer named Mary. First there was Mary Robinette Kowal, then Mary Anne Mohanraj, and now Mary K. Hobson.

Maybe the Universe is trying to tell me something.
