Last night, Sue and I had a conversation, the progression of which probably isn’t that unusual among F/SF fans.
As we were driving past a street named “Gen. Chennault”, I explained that this was in the memory of WW2 hero General Claire Chennault. I then added that ‘Claire Chennault’ also was the name of Linda Hunt’s character in a early 1990s SF show that was quite short-lived. (Vonda McIntyre is the only person I know of who also remembers 1993’s “Space Rangers”.) It was about a deep-space peace-keeping military outfit led by Hunt’s Chennault. Sue said “You mean, like that comic-book we used to read?” Next thing you know, we were reminiscing about our favorite characters in that comic, which was called “Alien Legion”, starting with Sarigar, whose lower body was a snake’s, and Zeerod, who looked like a cross between a kangaroo and a dog.
