Yesterday, I received the DVD of 1991's "Cast A Deadly Spell". Yay! The picture isn't as crisp as we've gotten used to, especially if you watch it on an HD TV, but that's not unusual for a DVD from 2001. Who cares, really? It's been a *long* time since I've seen Fred Ward as post-War gumshoe Phil Lovecraft who gets hired by a wealthy client to protect his daughter and, since there are zombies and Cthulhuesque cretures around, and since the client is played by David Warner, you know there's more going on than the job's description suggested.

Whenever I hear Debussy's "L'isle joyeuse", I wonder what happens to those of its inhabitants who get up in the morning and who don't particularly feel like being joyous. Maybe the island's proprietor - played by Malcolm McDowall - comes along saying "Smile, everyone, smile!"

"Burn Notice" is now into its 6th season and it manages to stay fresh. Still I hope that they get Fiona out of prison soon because it's not the same without her. Working toward that end, Michael repeatedly slammed a bum's face into a fridge, after which he broke his arm, as he doesn't take kindly to people roughing up his mom. That being said, it'd appear that Kristanna Loken's character will have a greater part in the ongoing story, especially now that she's been convinced to join Michael's Merry Companions against the evil Anson, which will probably make Bruce Campbell's Sam happy after she coldcocked him on the head. "At least she didn't hit me on the chin," the latter was heard saying.
