Chicon - day deux
Aug. 31st, 2012 05:59 pmI’ve been at the site of Chicago’s worldcon since yesterday afternoon, but, due to the Mystery Project, it’s only *this* afternoon that I was able to attend the con. Strictly speaking, that’s not true. I did go to the con’s registration yesterday, and had the chance to congratulate Betsy Wollheim for her Best Editor nomination at the Hugos, and I later went and had dinner with some of the Making Light habitué(e)s, some of whom I’d never met. This afternoon though was the first time I walked around the place – thirty years after my earlier visit. I was unable to make it to Bill Higgins's kaffeeklatch, but I was complimented for my accent by Mary Anne Mohanraj. Not long after that, Catherynne Valente said I had a lovely name. At the end of a panel on military SF, I said hello to John Hemry, who proceeded to give me the ARC of “Tarnished Knight”, his upcoming novel.
Not a bad con, eh?
