no boxing glove, and no wire
Oct. 11th, 2012 02:31 pm"Arrow" turned out to be ok. Not great, but ok, although the beginning's unnecessary and clumsy narration made me wince. This incarnation of Green Arrow definitely goes into Mike Grell territory, but this Ollie Queen hasn't killed any baddy even though he comes darn close to piercing their hearts. While he doesn't resort to the use of boomerang arrows or boxing-glove arrows, he does have a few gadgets in his quiver, including a wireless arrow with which he hacks the Very Bad Guy's computers, and which he amazingly put together within two days of being rescued from that island he had been stuck on for five years, after which he immediately went on a crimefighting spree. His motivations for *that* were rather nebulous, by the way. Then again, Dad had seen something special in his womanizing no-good son: as they were cast adrift in a dinghy with the one remaining crewmember and very few supplies, his father ensure Ollie would survive by blowing his own brains out - and those of the crewmember, but without first asking the latter how he felt about that.
