slight slights

Today I finally realized how totally clueless the man who oversees our team for the boss is. Yesterday I'd sent him a note to ask for details about the team's upcoming new structure, but he was busy so he called me this afternoon. I had been rather surprised when this restructure came up in a meeting because it affects me directly and he'd never approached me for a heads-up. He said this had come up in a meeting that I had been absent from and he basically forgot to tell me about it. Oh, and he casually said that I myself would basically be doing more of the same system support I've been doing for a long time, and said it as if this was a good thing. He apparently is unaware of how I feel about that. Later, when I asked what the situation was with getting a replacement for my former minion, it turned out he has hired someone. And forgot to tell me. One wonders why management wonders why I frequently feel slighted.

It's all kind of funny, when you think about it, which is why I remained calm thru the whole exchange.
