Yesterday was my last day in the Bay Area (for now anyway) so we all went out for lunch and afterward one of our contractors insisted that she'd pay for my share of the meal. Who am I to go against the wishes of a lady who wants to show her appreciation for my help past, present and future? During the lunch, I had something of an SFnal moment when one of the other contractors said he was briefly going back to India to get married. He's never met his bride, but they have talked to each other... thru Skype.

When I was at our Bay Area office this week, the team lead finally clarified what the restructuring of our subteams would consist of. All of them will work on 'development' projects, while mine will focus on tasks related to urgent repairs to our computer system. Stuff, that's not very glorious, but it does require someone who's good at it. (Takes a bow, falls into the orchestra pit.) One more responsibility of my team is yet another thing that I've been handling by default for quite some time, but it's now part of my job description to manage all the requests and deployments of system changes, and to make sure everything happens smoothly. To quote the word the team lead actually used, I am now officially...
