nickel-and-dimed

I took my penny tin to the grocery store today, expecting it to contain maybe $30 worth of pennies, nickels and dimes, so, when I selected the payment method, I chose a Starbuck's card. Had I known that there was more than $87 of small change in that tin, I'd have gone for an I'll-use-this-to-pay-today's-grocery option. I guess I now have to drink $87's worth of coffee. Not all at once, mind you.
