other days in Metropolis
Mar. 28th, 2013 05:36 am"For the love of Pete," I said, pausing in the air to study it.
The idiots had built a giant robot.
A giant robot with missiles, I corrected, as it lifted an arm and pointed it at me.
- from copperbadge's "Victory Bonds"
In the last days of the War's Italian campaign, Clark Kent realized, when a bullet bounced off him, that he was not normal. He eventually was discharged when he appeared to go crazy, hearing the cries of the dying from across the earth in Hiroshima. By 1947, he wound up in Metropolis, becoming a reporter for the Daily Planet where he often competed with the newspaper's star journalist, whose byline was 'Louis' Lane. Life got really exciting when he encountered Gotham's own crimefighter, once a spy known as the Bat. Eventually, they allied themselves with a Greek lady named Diana, who'd been a WASP, and one Alan Scott, formerly from the OSS and who had this special ring.
