Not much sleep last night. Sue stayed up late to work on her 3rd fantasy novel's outline so I kept her company until she couldn't think straight anymore and had to turn in. We both got up early and again I kept her company until she finished the darn outline and had me read it before she sent it off to her agent and to her editor. I then had a bit of cheese for breakfast and repaired to the garage where I worked for a few hours on a 'carpentry' project. My late lunch consisted of fruit. We were thinking of going to see "Man of Steel" tonight, but we were both beat so we're staying home. That's OK. "Longmire" is on A&E and I'm reading Hugo nominee "Chicks Dig Comics".

"Citizen kane" was on TCM yesterday. I know, that's not exactly a rare occurence, but I mention it because, even though I've often watched the movie, yesterday I realized something for the first time. Remember the scene where the mother of the very young Charles Foster Kane is sending her son away? She looked quite harsh thru the whole affair, ignoring her weak-willed husband. I had always thought she was doing it for money. Not a totally unexpected conclusion when the character is played by Agnes Moorehead. When Kane gets upset at his fate, his father threatens to give him a good trashing. Moorehead's expression remains harsh then she says something and that's when I realized she was sending her son away so that her husband could never hurt him again.
