failures to communicate

"I think the right hand doesn’t talk to the left foot here."

So said I to a former co-worker after my boss asked me to do no further research on a task someone else had asked me to work on.

Scarlet

"There are very few people that I trust - and I’m looking at all of them."

Will Scarlet to the rest of Robin Hood's band in "The King's Fool".
I need to watch this again.

time - of the essence even if not used

I just spent a chunk of today filling up reports for how many hours I'd worked every day since May 16 of this year. Back then I realized that it had been some time since management had sent us reminders that it was time to fill up a report, but, since nobody had asked me why none was coming from me, I reasonably assumed that they weren't required anymore. Fast-forward thru most of 2013 up to today, with a reminder to fill up a report for what's left of the year. Good thing I keep copious notes of what I do every day. Well, they're happy now that I've sent them 7 months's worth of reports they don't need and don't read and don't miss.

asking Alan Arkin

The contractors who are officially under my responsibility have a tendency not to respond to my emails until I ask again, and this has been going on for some time. Twice yesterday and today, I made one of my very few demands as their coordinator and requested a TIMELY response. They then 'explained' the delay with "I was sure I had hit the 'send' button" or "I didn't notice until now that my email was stuck in the outbox". They must think I'm a schmuck. Or maybe a putz. I'd have to ask Alan Arkin his opinion.
