Today is Kevin Costner's 55th birthday. It feels weird to think that he's barely 4 months older than me. As for Mel Gibson, who is 8 months younger than me, my wife says I've aged more gracefully than he has.

Mel Gibson was a ruggedly handsome young man in Road Warrior, when I was, I believe, officially too young to see it (or was it only rated PG? My high school laughed at ratings). His disgraceful behavior and reprehensible attitudes since then have ruined any of the physical charm he might still possess.

You, on the other hand, possess plenty of charm, and a dashing sartorial style as well.

Interestingly, Jodie Foster publicly defended him, I think. It may be that, working with her, he saw her as a person. It may be that she is fiercely protective of her friends, flawed as they are. Or it may be both.
