sergebroom1939's "Goodbye, Mr Chips" is on TCM right now and a scene just ended where Chips reluctantly canes a student for some egregious offense. Rather barbaric, and it reminds me of the many times I got rapped on the knuckles by nuns. At least the derrière has more padding.
