sergebroom: (Atomic Robo)

The first person to ask will be sent this brand-new trade paperback of "Atomic Robo and the Fightin' Scientists of Tesladyne".

All I require in exchange is that I be repaid for the mailing costs. What happened is that, thru some misunderstanding, my local comics store ordered the wrong Robo book for me. I decided not to return it, for various reasons, and I thought this was a chance to have others discover this wonderful comic-book by Brian Clevinger & Scott Wegener. Just to give you an idea, here is an exchange between two of Tesladyne Institute's Fightin' Scientists after one of them suggests that the ants about to invade Reno might have become giants because of radiation.

"That is not how radiation works."
"Well, no, but what about imaginary radiation?"
"Lord, not again."
"Imaginary physics is a perfectly legitimate field of inquiry... It'll revolutionize Science. Just you wait until we figure out what to look for and how to find it."
(later)
"Sorry, Vik. Can't hear you over the imaginary static."
"I swear to God, Lang. When the imaginary revolution comes, you will be the first against the wall."

I'll check with the Sonny -- he was just re-reading one of his Atomic Robo comics in the car last night.

Shouldn't that be "First against the imaginary wall."?

Hmmm... Either I made a transcription mistake, or the authors missed on one chance to make the exchange even more silly. No matter what, that was an excellent comment.

SFBC just sent me a second copy of Todd McCaffrey's new Pern book -- I think they had trouble with it being preordered -- and someone at bookgroup wanted it. (They never have you send it back -- that would cost them too much.) But I think I should start reading that series so I know if I want to buy more books in it.
