Today, I got my wife's laptop back from the shop after its 2nd severe infection in less than 6 months, and had to spend a few hours reloading softwares, printer drivers and such stuff.

Besides that...

I took Agatha the Cat Genius to the vet. He said that those marks on her face were not made by claws, but were the result of another cat biting her muzzle. She did not like his swabbing disinfectant into the holes. She's mostly been sleeping except at dinner time.

Ooowwwww

both for the computer but more for Agatha.

Give her a gentle kittie scritchie for me.

I'll bet she is. My last set of cat bites had me napping as much as the cats (in fact you could easily claim that I was indulging in synchronized napping with one of them, complimentary posing and all...).

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Agatha heals quickly[0] :)

[0] Did you know that they give humans and cats the same sort of antibiotics for cat bites?

yes

My second cat ever (Temme) bit my first cat (Aja) on the neck, sufficient to puncture her. I found out about it petting her neck at 5 a.m. one morning (she slept near my head on my pillow). I felt it, then started yelling, 'Jim, she's bleeding!" repeatedly. Finally his gentle injunction of 'turn on the light, Paula...." got through my panic and i did so. Pus feels like blood to a certain extent.

It was supposed to snow 'a little' that day. I left her at the vet and went to work. It snowed a LOT (3-4 inches by the time it was through). work let us out at 1, it took me three hours to get back to the vet's office (a normal 30-minute drive).

Got there and heard a cat yowling very loudly. they very quickly got her out to me (they'd put her back in my carrier after treatment) and told me she'd been yowling since she'd been there. Dr. G had just restrained her (not anesthetized her) to shave and drain the abscess and she was PISSED OFF. And Wanted Everyone to Be Miserable about it.

Two weeks of antibiotics fixed the remnants of it.

Fortunately my home was about 10 minutes despite the snow -- from the vet's office (up on the same hilltop plateau. And I had to power in to park in the driveway. It was snowy enough and our drive at that house was slanted enough I did NOT want to attempt the garage at that point.

Agatha can often be rough with big-wuss Jefferson (seen in my icon), but they've never hurt each other. No neighborhood cat has shown up in our backyard since Agatha has been with us so I figure that she wandered into another feline's turf.

That being said, she's still sleeping a lot, but she should be ok. I'm supposed to give her antibiotics pills twice a day. That should be interesting, especially since she'll probably quickly learn to make herself scarce whenever I come anywhere near.

Beast has been scritchied.

As for the computer... If it gets two more infections, the cleanup cost will have added up to the laptop's purchase amount.

And cats with renal failure get the same meds that we humans who have renal failure do.

Poor Agatha! If she runs from the pills, you can try the pillpockets.

She's smart and will quickly equate even them with runaway time. Well, let's see how that goes. She's doing fine, by the way.

If there's a special treat she really likes, give it to her after the pill. I got my Melisande Anastasia to take just about anything because she LURVED her Pepperidge Farm Goldfish. It only took two times the first time I had to give her pills for an infection, and she would actually swallow the pill and go 'Gimme my Goldfishie! NOW!"

Last cat was always needing some kind of meds, and the only way it worked for her was to use a liquid form stirred up into the juice part of wet cat food--she was always a sucker for juice.

So far she's letting me near when I want to pop in the pill, but she sure is opposed to the idea of having her mouth pried open. Thankfully no vestments have been shredded. Yet.

I'm glad she's fine!
