The training was about something that'd probably be of use to me. Mind you, I missed a lot of it. It almost got derailed a couple of times by production-support problems, but it went completely off the tracks when the class's instructor decided that the solution to letting me into his virtual machine for one big exercise was to remove my laptop's virus protection. Can anybody say 'security violation'? I had to turn my laptop in to re-install the protection and spent the class's last day looking over a classmate's shoulder while he was getting hands-on experience.
On the bright side...
As expected, I had a good time staying at my friend Yoko's a couple of nights. Being a reliable henchman, I helped her redecorate her place, what with her boyfriend John about to fly in from Australia.
Also on the bright side...
Nobody has gotten her/his yearly review yet, but a very nice bonus showed up on my paycheck yesterday. I guess I'll go to the bookstore and treat myself.
