I took a day off from office life yesterday, which is why I worked home nearly non-stop from 7am until 8pm. First, I removed one last bush, and took its sad remains along with the other deracinated bushes to the dump. On the way back, I picked up 20 more of those 25-pound bricks. The rest of the day was spent taking down the retaining wall I had set up a few days ago, because watering resulted in liquid seeping thru. After rebuilding it with a plastic tarp between the bricks and the soil, I began work on another flower bed's retaining wall. By supper time, I was done, and happy with the results, except for the time I pinched one fingertip with a brick. Sue congratulated me, but of course had to point out that the second flower bed was now much bigger than she had plants for, to which I replied I was sure she'd find a way to fill it up. Like Nature, my wife abhors a vacuum. Anyway, by 8pm, a few plants having been put into the ground, and a big heap of dirt having been relocated, I was able to call it a day. And went to bed until about 6:30am, which is way oversleeping for yours truly.
I did get a break during the day, when our new dishwasher was installed. What a beautiful sound, one I had not heard in months of manual dishwashing.
