My boss has realized that it's quite difficult to have a person write tech specs to change parts of a subsystem that the person knows nearly nothing about, and that it might help to have that person collaborate with someone for whom said subsystem isn't a complete obstacle course.

Yes, that takes a lot of pressure off my shoulders.
