hindsight and blinds
Jun. 6th, 2007 10:39 pmI spent three hours tonight setting up up new blinds above the kitchen sink, not an easy task when a cramped location is made even more cramped by my lanky body frame. After those three hours, I realized that the reason the darn blinds didn't fit wasn't due to any flaw in my home-improvement skills. I had measured the window and its width was the same as that of the dining nook's. Except that the kitchen sink's window is narrower than the standard size by 0.5 inch. Looking back, there are some things I could have done at the beginning of the evening that'd have saved me a lot of frustration. Hindsight is a beautiful thing. And certainly more pleasant than when the screwdriver flew off my hand and it sharp end hit me that close to one eye.
On the bright side...
I finally heard back from 2100.com, which is where my wife's site is hosted, about why the new username and password they'd given us weren't working. Situation has been resolved. I'm very eager to get those changes implemented and out of my thinning mane. But, considering the late hour, I'll hold off until tomorrow night.
Also... The San Francisco group I'm with had a big picnic most of today and I was left to mind the store while working on my own projects. I was a bit disappointed that nobody checked up on me at any point, not even tonight after everybody had gone back home. But... Surprise, surprise... One hour ago, an email showed up in my mailbox, from a co-worker thanking me for today, and including the whole team. That was especially pleasant, coming from that co-worker, who can be rather thoughtless.
Anyway, that's it for tonight. It's past midnight and my laptop might turn back into a pumpkin. I'll go lie on the couch now and let the puppy share it with me instead of confining him in his crate.
