I saw the Fantastic Four movie on Saturday night and it turned out to be much better than I had been led to believe. Kind of like getting the sniffles when you've been expecting coming down with the stomach flu.

The best part was the coming attraction for The Golden Compass. I've read some things that lead me to believe that Philip Pullman isn't quite happy with the results. As for myself, I haven't read the book so I may be able to take it on its own terms. And the visuals! God! They are absolutely stunning.

The entire His Dark Materials trilogy is well worth reading.

So I've heard. Argh. One more thing to add to my to-read list. As for the movie, my understanding is that they'll be taking the same approach as with Lord of the Rings, releasing all 3 movies at Christmas, three years in a row.

Well, they should be worth seeing.

Perhaps you should re-read some of the things you've read that made you believe that Pullman isn't happy with the result considering he was practically a consultant to the filmmakers on the set and has been promoting the movie at every event he has been invited to. Don't know what you've read but a big thumbs up from Pullman is what this movie has been getting.

I don't remember where I had gotten the impression that the author was unhappy with the film adaptation. I was wrong? Then I stand most happily corrected.

May I ask who you are, by the way?
