Brownie, our oldest dog, died today. Euthanesia was better than letting lymphoma kill her.

Thanks. She was getting old and crotchety, and was losing her eyesight and her earing. My one wish is that, when those suspicious lumps appeared on her back, we should have waited for the test results before having the tumors removed. Because we didn't wait, she spent her last days sore and drugged out.

My condolences. It's always hard to lose a family member.

(The cat in the icon is my late beloved Mina, who lived to the ripe old age of 23 before succumbing to kidney failure.)

You did what you thought was best at the time. At least she was in the care of people who loved her.

Even though it was for her own good, I feel like I betrayed her.

I know the feeling (my dog Phoebe, acute hemolytic anemia, 2 yrs ago)--but you didn't betray her. It just hurts, even when you do the right thing. --Lila, from Making Light

I know. It's one of those situations where you mind says one thing, but your heart says otherwise.
