Almost 50 years ago, The Twilight Zone premiered. It had duds, it had some good stuff, it had some very good stuff. There were so-so episodes such as No Time Like The Past, in which a time traveller played by Dana Andrews tries to stop the Great War and fails, tries again with the Second World War and fails. Discouraged, he throws in the towel and escapes to the late 19th century. The episode isn't particularly original, but it has an exchange that resonates particularly with today's History. Please note that Rod Serling, the show's creator, had had a very personal acquaintance with War - in the Philippines.
