annoyingly perplexed

When co-workers tell me "We need to change this", I ask why and when I finally get the straight answer that "We must change this because we changed that other thing", I become annoyingly perplexed because, when we changed that other thing for our old system, we did not need to change this thing. No, I don't enjoy being a pain in the donkey, but I am relieved that lack of intellect is not why I did not understand their request.
