I've met my youngest nephew only 4 times since his birth in January 2007. I'd have met him during my trip to the Bay Area in July 2007 except that he was in New York City with mom and dad, which is how Theo got to meet actress Julianne Moore in one of the city's parks. But I digress. It's been interesting seeing my nephew become more aware of the outside world. This means that, on our third encounter, in October 2007, he'd look at me with a who-are-you? wariness. During Christmas of 2007 though, there was a breakthrough. He was still wary, but he tentatively touched my beard and decided that I was safe in spite of that hairy thing on my chin.

One of my aunts ensured that I would dislike her for the rest of my life by asking, on our first encounter when I was seven, about my father 'Is he still a bearded brute?'

And it went downhill from there. That being said... Which is worse? A bearded brute, or a mustachioed meanie?

Heh. One of my cousins first met me when she was about three and I was a bearded 19 or 20. She took one look and said to her mother or father, "Bear?"

I haven't seen her since she was about ten, which is a shame. I'd love to throw that into her face once in a while.

Well, her elder brother and wife just had a baby, so I saw pictures of her. She's got three or four kids of her own. I've had two beards since that incident and shaved them off.

I think that's kind of cute myself, but Your Mileage May Vary.

I got confused for a second about Theo meeting Julianne Moore because I thought you were talking about Children of Men all of a sudden (Clive Owen's character was named Theo).

That picture is ridiculous(ly adorable).

Owen's character was named Theo? That is a funny coincidence. Anyway, yes, Theo-my-nephew did meet Moore.

The verdict is still out

per my 18-month-old great nephew Seth in regards to Jim. But then I wager all the male adults he sees are clean-shaven. He'd get close, but if Jim paid any attention to him, Seth would back off and get anxious.

What a cutie!

Thanks.

I think I made some progress with the little guy by pretty much staying away, thus letting him decide whether he wanted this tall guy that close to him. He eventually decided in the affirmative and, on some occasions, actually followed me around.
