hairy things in the outside world

I've met my youngest nephew only 4 times since his birth in January 2007. I'd have met him during my trip to the Bay Area in July 2007 except that he was in New York City with mom and dad, which is how Theo got to meet actress Julianne Moore in one of the city's parks. But I digress. It's been interesting seeing my nephew become more aware of the outside world. This means that, on our third encounter, in October 2007, he'd look at me with a who-are-you? wariness. During Christmas of 2007 though, there was a breakthrough. He was still wary, but he tentatively touched my beard and decided that I was safe in spite of that hairy thing on my chin.

Date: Jan. 4th, 2008 10:16 pm (UTC)I think I made some progress with the little guy by pretty much staying away, thus letting him decide whether he wanted this tall guy that close to him. He eventually decided in the affirmative and, on some occasions, actually followed me around.
