”You’ll take the egg. I’ll rescue the princess.”

Early on, when Knight George and his Moorish friend poke each other Thrree-Stooges style before they go their separate ways, one begins to suspect that this is not going to be a straight retelling of St-George’s fight with the Dragon The suspicion is soon confirmed by a monk’s escape from a hanging with an accidental skateboard, and by George coming to an inn where the local rough types pass time by hanging customers to the ceiling before they swing them around to knock down bowling pins. The dragon is called Adelaide by Princess Luma - who does not want to marry Patrick Swayze. There is also the dragon’s egg, which Luma named Smite, and which she has sworn to protect, thus her bopping George unconscious every time he tries to slay the egg.

Silly?
Yes.

Fun?
Yes.

Why does this seem to echo Mel Brooks's Robin Hood: Men in Tights in my mind?

I know what you mean, but it doesn't come off that way. It had more of a joy-of-life feel to it. It's one of those things I didn't think I'd like when I first stumbled across it on the SciFi Channel, but it hit me just right, enough that I bought the DVD. But be warned, this definitely is one of those things where Your Mileage May Vary.
