K9 after the 22nd

Since it was just Sue and me, we celebrated our 22nd anniversary as usual. We went to a restaurant where we exchanged gifts. I got her a pair of glass frames she reallyreallyreally liked, and she gave me the DVD of the 1990s miniseries adaptation of The Odyssey. Isabella Rossellini as Grey-eyed Athena… Be still, my heart…

Once back home, we watched a movie. NetFlix had told Sue that La vie en rose, a biopic about Edith Piaf, was scheduled to arrive that day. It was not to be so we watched 2006’s Casino Royale. Well, it is a very romantic movie.

So that was the usual. What wasn’t usual was that Sue managed to surprise me with a present I’d never have expected.

Happy Anniversary! And what great presents! I've got that Odyssey on VHS, and I watch it at least once a year when I'm teaching the epic. It's by far the best film adaptation of Homer, in my opinion.

Thanks. About The Odyssey... Did you ever see the Italian miniseries of the late 1960s? It was pretty good too, at least I remember it that way, but who knows what I'd think today? Irene Pappas, who played Penelope in that version, was Odysseus's mother in the more recent adaptation.
