the Shield
Feb. 7th, 2008 11:20 amIn retrospect, it makes perfect sense.
A lot of interesting things have been done with the comic-book Captain America these last few years, especially since 2001. The most surprising was the death of Captain America, shot by his brainwashed lover just when he had finally made his peace with Bucky, who had not died at the end of the War and who had been turned into an assassin. After a long story arc where Cap's friends went after the Red Skull and his associates, and with the old patriot apparently truly dead, someone was bound to take on his Shield, and I was sure I'd hate the replacement. Of course the one who took his place was the least obvious and the most obvious candidate.
