My plane will be taking off for the Bay Area in about 5 hours. It should be quite uneventful although the landing in Oakland less than 3 hours later may be a bit bumpy, based on what my parents-in-law said when they called earlier today: it’s raining cats and dogs and halberds, and they insisted that I must call them when I get off the Pleasant Hill BART Station. I’ve done that 30-minute walk from there to their house many times, but I must confess that I won’t mind not doing a Gene Kelly impersonation in soggy shoes.

I’m pretty much ready to go now. I did all my chores, put a new seat on the toilet, so I’m pretty much ready to go.

Aside from the usual increase in rainfall whenever I show up in the Bay Area, itll be a nice way to spend a week. Sure, I’ll be working(1), but not 1100 miles away from my team(2), all alone(3). Most important, I’ll be spending time with my in-laws. And I’ll be seeing my friend Yoko. Hopefully no tremors will hit the Bay Area otherwise the two of us will have to reconsider ever meeting again.

(1) And getting my yearly review. My fingers are crossed.

(2) That might mean less blogging around, what with the possibility of my boss sneaking up on me. Well, we shall see.

(3) Boohoohooh…

Travel safe, and I was going to mention that you should look out for earthquakes, but you already brought that up.

And to cross blogs and posts - Cary Grant never got an Academy Award for a film he was in??? The mind boggles.

Thanks for the wishes. As for Cary Grant, he was nominated nut he indeed never won. I don't count the career-achievement Oscar they gave himin the 1980s. The problem is that he made it all seem so easy, especially comedy.

They just don't make 'em like Cary Grant. Sigh...

I'm sorry. You have reached a non-working number.

Halberds?

Now that would be a terrifying sight.

No kidding. But the French equivalent to a rain of felines and canines indeed refers to halberds. Ouch. On the other hand, no kittie or doggie get harmed in the process of raining.

yikes. Then again, that means that fracophones would actually have to learn what a halberd is. That's another reason I'm finding "raining halberds" to be a superior phrase, for now.

Of course it is superior. It is Français. Ahem.
