"I was born in that region of Earth later called Mesopotamia, in the year 3834 B.C., as the millennia are reckoned. I was Akharin, a soldier, a bully and a fool. I fell in battle, pierced to the heart - and did not die."

- James Daly as Flint, in Star Trek's sad episode Requiem for Methuselah.

Since I'll have to spend a few hours today and tomorrow babysitting our unix server's business-continuation exercise from the comfort of home, I might well want to watch what I think is one of Star Trek's best episodes - in spite of its having been aired during the infamous 3rd season.

Oddly enough, I'll be on call this weekend, and with an empty house for part of the day. I just might have to open that bookmarked site of Star Trek videos and watch another episode. ;-)

Good idea. By the way, have you seen the coming attraction for the movie? It looks very good, even though it doesn't show much. The cast is promising, with, among others, Simon Pegg ("Hot Fuzz") as Scotty, and Bruce Greenwood as Captain Pyke.

Among that class of episode*, I am more a fan of "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky". But it is a good 'un.

* Don't ask me to define that class of episode

Ah, yes... I haven't seen For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky, but it was indeed one of those episodes. As for what you mean by that, might it be that it's one where the core idea shines thru in spite of all obstacles?
