Coming out, not in January 2009 as I had expected (and despaired at the long wait), but on June 24, 2008, less than 5 weeks away, The Lost Fleet: Valiant, by John G. Hemry, writing as Jack Campbell. The bad news? We now know that this 4th volume of the story will be followed by only 2 more books.

That cover could be more lurid, but it would take a lot of effort.

It is rather colorful, and quite a contrast to the more sober covers of the earlier books. Still, I'm sure I'll enjoy this book.

That's the *good* news: it means the series has a definite end-point. (The plotline has one, but I was afraid we'd never get there.)

True. A story should not go on longer than it should. Still, that doesn't mean that we can't be sad when it's over.
