Yesterday, I once more looked around the internet, hoping to find that 1961's Master of the World had finally been released on DVD. Once more, I was disappointed.

But my search wasn't fruitless.

It's interesting, but not surprising at all, that William Waldrop's own version of Jules Verne's Albatross (seen above), was inspired by the movie's airship and not by the novel. After all, the book's airship was literally a ship's hull, with one big propeller in the front and one in the back, and many small ones on the deck.

For more retro-SF, you might want to take a look at Waldrop's site Steam Noir.

Did I miss something? I just counted...has Brownie gone? I counted Freya, Nala, the new one...Cagney?

Sorry if I've missed this, but just as I hit reply on your comment, I counted and came up missing...

Alas, yes, Kathy. Brownie passed away last year in July. Cancer. So, for a time it was just two dogs and one cat. Then Cagney, from Roswell, joined our little family. And just a few weeks ago, Agatha the bad cat literally walked into Sue, knowing a sucker right away. Agatha definitely wants to go outside, but there's no way we'll let her otherwise she might wander away and become an entrée for one of the local coyotes.
