I just completed the assessment of Part Four of my training.
Score is 92%.
As this was the last section of the class, this means that my overall score is 85%.

In other happy news (happy for me anyway), when I last weighed myself, on May 23, I had gone down from 186 pounds to 182. Today, I'm at 181. Of course that may be because I recently had a haircut.

Wait. Was that one of those "About time you got a haircut, you hippy!" moments?

It was yay, score and yay, weightloss.

(and I don't get the hippy thing. Because I'm still a whippersnapper.)

ETA: Oh, wait. I get it. I'm just really slow tonight. I spent ALL DAY on a field trip with the whole 8th grade, and my brain bled out my ears hours ago. Sorry.

Oh, I knew you were yaying about the score and the weightloss. Mind you, hat a tall & thin guy would rejoice at losing one pound just because he's almost 53 is rather silly. You're sorry for not understanding? You shouldn't be.

Congratulations (on the score, not the haircut).

My wife feels the same way about my haircut.

She doesn't like the way I had my hair cut last week. Too short, she says. Makes it obvious that my hairline has receded, she says. Newsflash!

Thus am I well served for being enigmatic: you're either matching me enigma for enigma, or randomness for (apparent) randomness - and I can't tell which.

I figured that the quarter was like a paternal reward for getting good grades. Thus the 'thanks'. And quarters usually are shiny.

It was actually a reaction to the title of your post: "a score and a haircut" reminded me of "shave and a haircut, two bits". And nobody makes bits any more, but back in the days when you could get a shave and a haircut for two bits, two bits was the same as twenty-five cents.

(It will no doubt occur to you that if a quarter is equal to two bits, then one bit is an eighth of a dollar. And, indeed, even further back in the days when a silver dollar was made from a dollar's worth of silver, they made bits by breaking a dollar coin into eight pieces: hence, "pieces of eight".)

Oh, that's what this meant. It's quite fascinating to find out where some expressions come from. Thanks.
