Yes, this is one of my favorite movies, probably because its cheesiness resulted in such a weird atmosphere.

Modern cheese, of the kind regularly served on the Skiffy Channel, is technically far superior to this old stuff, but it just isn't fun.

I had one of those walker dolls when I was a little girl...the kind where one leg would kind of kick on its own so you could walk with it, and the other leg stayed put. The monster at the beginning appears to be chewing on one of those.

For all we know, they have have used one of those dolls for that scene. To describe the movie as being low-tech even by pre-Star Wars standards is something of an understatement.
