Argh. I read slush for Baen, for about a year or so. Third-rate would have been a step up.

That dismal? I wonder if it's any different with other publishers. Based on some of the contests that my wife was asked to judge, the slushpile is probably the same everywhere.

It might just have been the ones they gave to me. I didn't have any winners, although I did find one or two authors who could eventually write a book, after some training. ;-)
